Feedback Directs Service to Residents, Customers

Wallick is continuing its ongoing efforts to improve the company and be a premier service provider. We again surveyed our customers to find out what we’re doing well and what we can do better. For those of you who participated, thank you.

Our associate training program is one example of our ongoing customer service work. It is helping us create a learning culture among our associates. As you know, many companies talk about training. We walk our talk by having a training coordinator on staff whose sole focus is to work with our associates. See the sidebar to learn more about Amber Scott and her work.

We appreciate your continued partnerships and relationships. Without them, Wallick would not have had the successes it did last year. These successes will also drive our work this year. We’ll be moving forward on renovations at the six communities where we won federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) in 2011. We’ll continue to work with communities that we manage. Our portfolio grew by 1,660 units last year.

And we’ll continue to complete projects with previously awarded LIHTCs. Five wrapped up in late 2011. There were two in Ohio — Almond Village in Dayton, The Berwick Hotel Apartments in Cambridge, and three in Indiana — Skybird Manor in Greensburg, Rushville Commons in Rushville and Burnett Manor in Rockville. Renovations at The Villages at Roll Hill are ahead of schedule, thanks to the mild winter. We’re looking forward to its completion.



Scott Leading Associate Development Progam

Amber Scott has joined the Wallick team to lead our associate development program. In this position she plans and implements training activities for all associates, including Wallick University.

Launched in 2009, Wallick University continues to evolve and grow. Its components now include:

- New Associate Training and Orientation (NATO)

- Annual Associate Training & Recognition Event

- Mentoring Program

to complement NATO and help new associates and existing associates who are taking on new roles transition into their positions

- Certification Programs

Through Wallick University, we’ve had 85 associates participate in certification trainings for Tax Credit, Blended Occupancy and others; we’ve held three annual associate recognition events and onboarded 140 new associates through our NATO program, in 2011.

This year’s focus includes ramping up the mentoring program for associates at our community sites and at the corporate office.
